Impact resistance is the ability to withstand high forces or shocks occurring over a short period of time. These forces and shocks can pose a danger, not just to home’s windows and doors, but to the entire house itself. If sever design pressure shatters a window or door in the home, that some pressure can reach the walls and roof, and threaten the integrity of the entire structure.
During impact testing an 8-foot 2×4 is shot out of a computerized cannon at 50 feet per second, the equivalent of 34 mph. The strength of the interlayer in our laminated glass stops the 2×4 from penetrating the glass unit.
